I don’t think I have ever actually formally introduced myself. Really, I am not all that interesting of a person but I take great pride in being what everyone else calls, “basic.” Yep, I might be a little vanilla, but I am sure happy with it and I think life is about doing what makes you happy, even if it is “basic.” šŸ™‚ So here are a few things about me to officially introduce myself!

- I consider myself an artist because I love to paint, draw, create, etc. I have no claims to my abilities however, and I am not necessarily great at it, but you don’t have to be good to be an artist, you just have to love it, and I DO!

- I am married to my high school sweetheart. We started off as great friends and became best friends and decided we couldn’t live without eachother. Romantic right? (jokes, but really.)

-I adore Gerbera daisies. They are just so happy and beautiful.

- I am a complete little piggy. I try super hard to be clean, but I am just a walking tornado. I like to think of my mess as organized chaos, after all I do actually know where everything is, even if there is stuff everywhere. Poor Tony is OCD though, so he keeps me in line and I keep him going a little crazy, so it all balances out, right?

- I will love Harry Potter until the day I die. On a scale of 1 to 10 how obsessed am I with Harry Potter? 9 3/4. (see what I did there guys?)

- I got my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in strategic communication (because I’m strategic, duh) and I’m one of the weirdos that is actually really sad that school is done because I love it so much. I might just be crazy enough to go back and work on more degrees or something for fun (am I a little crazy or totally insane?)

- My natural haircolor? Blonde. Probably could have guessed it but surprisingly I get asked a lot. Once I tried brunette…..annnnnnnd blonde just suits me better.

- Between music classes, piano lessons, playing clarinet in the band, and learning guitar, I have had over 11 years of musical training and experience, yet I still don’t have a single musical note in my body and couldn’t play anything on demand if I tried. Well…I could maybe play twinkle twinkle little star. And I have mastered the same 5 riffs on the guitar that I play over and over again, pretending I can play.

- I can’t cook. I REALLY can’t cook. A week without the smoke detector going off=success.

- I used to look down on people that claimed they had “depression” thinking it was not a “real” mental illness. Until I was diagnosed with it. IĀ  struggled with depression for two years, and even though I’ve since mostly recovered, I still have to fight it often.

- My daughter loves Sophia the First so we have it on repeat in our house, but almost every time I will suddenly realize she hasn’t been in the room for 15 minutes and I have been watching by myself, totally enthralled. Not proud.

- I am an insufferable know-it-all. I really do try hard NOT to be, but it doesn’t help. I just can’t help volunteer information or correcting somebody if I know (or think I know) the answer. I hate people like me. I really don’t want to be this way, but usually it happens before I even know it. It is a serious personality flaw I have, haha.

- My favorite color is pink. And sparkles. Especially pink sparkles.

-Sunny is not my real name, it is actually derived from my nickname, “sunshine” which I get called so much within my family, that might as well be my legal name. But it fits my outlook on life and has inspired me from the time I could walk. It just feels right.

- I HATE tomato soup.

- I still sometimes pretend to be a mermaid when I go to the beach. I can’t help it, old habits die hard. And I also have the maturity of a 5 year old girl most days.

- I collect rubber bouncie balls. I have several hundred in every shape, size, and color you can imagine. Tony hates them.

- One time I competed in a beauty pageant scholarship program (Ahem, Miss Congeniality anyone?) where I learned how to have good manners, how to “pinch a penny” when I walked in heels (more girls need lessons walking in heels than you would think!), and how to interview properly. Really it is embarrassing to admit but I did actually learn a few good skills!

- I am the owner of my own business, the Urban Mommy Boutique, and sell stuff on Etsy. It is a shop I started recently after discovering I had success selling some of my crafty projects.

- I have scuba dived the Great Barrier Reef. Yes, I said scuba dived.

- I have an amazing aunt who took me on a vacation to Sydney when I was 19 years old, it is her favorite city (and now mine!) and holds some amazing memories. I named my daughter “Sydney” because to me, the word represents my aunt so it is like I named her after my aunt, without actually using her name!

- I am obsessed with books. All books. Old books, children’s books, reading books, looking at books. It is a weird hobby I have. Tony won’t go into the bookstore with me anymore because it is too difficult for him to drag me out.

- I am 100% Paleo……about 15% of the time….haha. I really like the idea of clean eating, but it is just so dang hard and I have zero willpower when it comes to to tasty things.

- My favorite food is half way across the world from me šŸ™ Pancakes from a restaurant in Sydney, Australia called Pancakes on the Rocks. Thickest, fluffiest, sweetest, most amazing pancakes covered in thick cream, fruit, and a scoop of ice cream on top. H-E-A-V-E-N.

- My favorite thing to do is to go places and do nothing. I like to do nothing on the beach, I like to do nothing at the park, I like to do nothing in the mountains, I like to do nothing at my house. I rarely have time to enjoy this luxury, but relaxing and just enjoying being alive or nature or people watching or whatever while doing nothing is the greatest gift ever!
